Corwin considers a moment, then crouches down, on the kids' level, and sets the candy bowl down on the porch. He straightens up again and backs away. "There," he says, sounding pleased with himself for coming up with a solution. "Now I'm not giving it to you. You're just taking from a bowl on the ground, so even if I wanted to eat you, I would have no reason do. Which I don't," he repeats again.
